The college is undergoing a redevelopment and expansion, involving the upgrade and new installation of services infrastructure to accommodate the expansion planning.
Scope
Ekeohm were engaged to implement a communications structured cabling and UPS installation to service the Stage 13 development. The scope included CAT6 UTP and CAT6A Shielded Clipsal structured solution with a fibre ring backbone system and a UPS backup system to accommodate new servers and switches within the communications room.
Project challenges
The project experienced challenges due to the impact of COVID-19 in the delay of programmed activities and materials procurement and delivery.
How we managed this
Ekeohm overcame the challenges of delay by early identification and notification of activities that may be impacted by delay and relied upon one of our core business pillars of value, by identifying a locally produced and cheaper product that could be used as an alternative to delayed materials, which met the clients budget expectations, as well as performance of the design. Proactive clear communication with stakeholders allowed for better planning and management of other stakeholder’s activities and resulted in a lesser impact to the overall completion than was originally forecast.
Key customer outcomes
The customer desired to have the facility open, operational, and meeting the design requirements to enable a modern approach to education and the educational facilities available to students. The project was delivered to the standards required to achieve this, on-budget and within the timeframe.
Safety & Quality
Ekeohm relies upon its core values of safety, quality, value, and innovation and demonstrated implementation of these values through the delivery of this project. The project incurred over 800hours of labour with zero FAI, MTI or LTI’s, with 5 positive safety interactions. Ekeohm demonstrated why we are aligned with industry leading businesses, through a proactive quality and value approach, which contributed to delivering the project within budget, on-time, and defect free.
