Overview
The Mountain Goat Brewing Co set-out to expand its operation and open it’s first venue in NSW, selecting King St in Newtown as the ideal location to commence it’s NSW operation. The brewer acquired the lease at an iconic local antiquity store and envisioned maintaining the look and feel of the store to integrate into their vision.
Scope
Ekeohm were engaged to design & construct the low voltage electrical, communications, audio visual and CCTV services for the Mountain Goat Brewing Co. The scope included new consumer mains under ASP2 licence, new main switchboard including earthing & bonding of equipment, commercial kitchen and bar fit-out, architectural lighting design and installation, audio system design & installation using the Bose professional range, security access and CCTV and design & installation of a local area network to provide connectivity for staff and customers.
Project challenges
The primary challenges experienced with the delivery of this project were the complex deliverables, with many stakeholder interfaces to engage with as well as council and community considerations to achieve a successful delivery. Venue closures due to COVID-19 and uncertainty around financial investment were also considerations that required close stakeholder engagement and management.
How we managed this
Ekeohm managed this challenge by taking an innovative approach to the design challenges with the electrical Supply Authority requirements, lead in services and scope expansion. Regular stakeholder & interface meetings were chaired by Ekeohm to ensure customer expectations aligned with the design challenges and budget restrictions. Value engineering exercises lead to cost savings, allowing the customer to focus on other priority works outside of Ekeohm’s scope.
Key customer outcomes
The Mountain Goat Brewing Co is now operating in full capacity, with a high quality and good value outcome for the customer, and a vibrant new venue for the community. Ekeohm are continuing to support this customer, through their reactive and planned maintenance needs.
Safety & Quality
A strong focus, team involvement and management of safety and quality controls during the construction phase of the project resulted in a successful handover, with zero FAI, MTI & LTI injuries recorded and zero defects on practical completion. With safety in design principles and group stakeholder workshops with a view to the normal operation of the business post construction, the new premises is operating with a safe, reliable and compliant installation.
